SELECTION GUIDELINES

• In choosing a nominee, consideration shall be given to the nominee’s achievements up to the year immediately prior to the year of nomination.

• Except for the specified age coverage for the National Young Achiever’s Medal, there is no age restriction pertaining to the selection of other nominees.

​

• A nominee must be a Turks and Caicos Islander, except where the Ordinance otherwise provides.

​

• Self-nomination will not be considered.

​​

• Nomination by a member of the Committee will not be considered.​

​

• Members of the Committee are not eligible for the grant of an award while serving on the Committee.

​​

• The number of nominations cast for a nominee shall not be the determining factor influencing the final decision.

​​

• Before the confirmation of a selection, verifiable documentation shall be perused by the Committee.

​​

• The decisions made by the Committee shall be recommended to the Premier in Cabinet.

​​

• There shall be no appeal from decisions made on the selection of recipients.

• A nominee can qualify in different categories of awards over a period of time; however, no recipient can be honoured in any one category more than once.

​​

• The names of unsuccessful nominees shall not be carried over for consideration in subsequent nominations.

​​

• In the National Young Achiever’s Medal category of award, where performance merits it, groups may be nominated to share an award.

​​

• All nominations must reach the Committee not later than three months prior to the month of celebration.

​​

• The approved list of recipients in any given year will be published in the Gazette and other media six weeks prior to the ceremony for bestowal.

​​

• Only in the case of a grave error discovered within the first week of publication of the approved list in the Gazette will the Committee revise its publication.
